Brand-new wooden furniture was installed in the cafeteria and accommodation at the Forest Training Institute in March 2006. It includes 60 chairs and 15 tables for the cafeteria and 104 chairs and 112 bookcases for the accommodation.
These are made of lumber from sustainably maintained forests. We actively introduced this FSC-certified furniture because the national government is promoting the use of lumber in public facilities, etc., the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is taking the initiative in increasing the use of lumber based on its action plan, and the government has revised the basic policy under the Act on Promoting Green Purchasing.
These pieces of furniture are made of cypress lumber from thinning. The lumber was produced by FSC-certified Hayami Forest (Mie Prefecture) or owned by Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. The production of furniture was led by FSC-certified Nakamura Lumber in Saga Prefecture. The installed wooden furniture created a bright and warm atmosphere, changing the cafeteria beyond recognition.
